I t’s not the initial cost that gets you. It’s the 5 hours spent in the bathroom with food rushing out of all ends.

Or something like that.

Feel great now, but last night was brutal. I’m going to go ride the MT-09 again, assuming the weather holds up. I really like that bike.

Update: weather has not held up. Guess I’ll.... Apply for new jerbs..?

The Chinese Cultural Center here used to have a place with $7 lunch specials. Big entree serving with soup, salad, egg r oll, rice and noodles. Never got sick, but the center was owned by the Chinese government, so everything probably had lead in it.

I add Dave’s Ghost Pepper sauce (~650,000 Sc) to a lot of things.  My digestive system has essentially turned into asbestos.

I really like the look of that bike. I remember one of your issues with it was that you found it too boring looking, but honestly, its probably better to have the less flashy bike.

All your bike buying posts have got me browsing and dreaming for one...thanks a lot.

To put things in perspective, while in Thailand I ordered fried chicken from a local joint. They gave me a 0 -10 spicyness scale, and I chose 1.

I still think it's boring looking, but... They offer a dark grey with lime green wheels that is pretty interesting....

You think there’s not enough of the dried peppers because those are just mixed in with the mass quantities of ground up Sichuan peppercorns all over everything.

Joe’s is a Sichuan style place and they have the “spicy tasty fried” treatment available on everything from tofu to pork chops.

The Shanghai style places have a similar dish called spicy fried tofu but it’s got more of a hot pepper powder on it with some of those dried peppers plus garlic cloves, scallions and cilantro. Not nearly as fiery as the Sichuan version, but also delicious.

(I live in Rockville, MD which is the official unofficial Chinatown of the DC area.)

What color? You could probably ask them to order one with the intent of buying, but that you would need a test ride forest to be safe. If you back out, they wouldn't have a problem selling it. At least our local Yamaha dealer can't keep them in stock.

The 2018 they have is red. I don’t hate it, but it’s probably my least favorite color that’s been offered.

I’d want to order a 2019, as I like the more bare grey

II think there was a blue at one point that looked pretty snazzy too... It’s a shame Yamaha seems to only do one color per year on the 900.

And apparently there’s a quick shifter option on the 2019. That could be fun. The one on the 1200S was a blast

Both of those are lackluster options in my opinion. Personally I love the original brushed aluminum look with the reddish brown seat.

Are you planning on riding year round as primary transportation? You might consider how good ABS and TC are on your prospective bikes. Urban mode on the monster is excellent and it's aids are smooth and unobtrusive. I can't comment on any others, because I haven't used them in as many situations.

Are you talking about this one? Because yeah... This is my favorite of the colors I’ve seen. If I keep the bike long-term I’d probably swap parts.

I do want to ride year round, but knowing me there will be another vehicle joining the fleet sometime this winter  I’d kill for a 100 series Land C ruiser. Or a disco II... Couldn't be worse than the Volvos right

ooo we had weather yesterday too. There were some clouds in the sky and it was only a high of 75. Very cold day here! Felt like winter.

I’ve put about 500 miles on it so far, no issues.  Freaking love it.  Coming from an ‘01 R6, it’s so comfy and torquey.  Really love riding it every chance I get and am not afraid to put some miles on her.
